Visual Identity

This is how OpenMatter looks, reads, and moves.
One system across every surface.

Content forward, always.

The identity supports the work. It does not compete with it.

Typography communicates. Color signals. Motion confirms.

Everything has a role. Nothing is ornamental without purpose.

OpenMatter should feel quiet when still and alive when active. The system is designed to move across surfaces — from the Mark on a physical device to a full-screen experience — while remaining unmistakably OpenMatter.

Mark

The Mark is the shape of a system made human.

Built from a square with continuous curves, it brings precision and ease into one form. The square gives it clarity, structure, and presence. The softened edges make it approachable, adaptable, and at home in everyday life.

It reflects what OpenMatter does: give intelligence a clear way into the physical world, without making the world feel more mechanical.

Wordmark

The OpenMatter wordmark is set in the typeface — OpenMatter Sans Medium — not drawn as custom outlines.

It uses the same letterforms as the family. The blueprint maps cap height, spacing, and rhythm to a Fibonacci scale: 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13.

Always set OpenMatter as one word.

OpenMatter Sans

The primary typeface across product, protocol, and partner surfaces.

OpenMatter Sans is a geometric sans-serif with open counters and steady rhythm — quiet at rest, clear under load.

Regular carries body copy. Medium sets the wordmark and UI labels. Semibold and Bold anchor headings.

Palette

Daylight and Nightfall share one system — canvas, container, and elevated surfaces, then type and accent. Green signals navigation; blue marks protocol surfaces.

Usage

A glimpse of how the identity shows up — on stationery, cards, apparel, and apps and services.

These illustrations are schematic, not production spec. In use, always deploy approved SVG assets, preserve clear space, and set the wordmark as OpenMatter — one word, fixed casing.

On light and dark surfaces, use the appropriate mark treatment. White and black are fixed assets — never redraw the Mark or substitute a generic shape.

Motion

Motion is typed by primitive — matrix, orb, and pill — and named state. The same labels repeat across surfaces so activity reads as one system, not a set of examples.
